V28: Burn Subtitles, Modern Editors, and Total Activity Control

Burn subtitles in. Stop anything mid-flight. See every file's status in a batch. V28 is here.

- Vysakh Sreenivasan

Twenty-eight releases. Twenty-eight consecutive Fridays. V28 ships a burn-subtitles-into-video action right from the file context menu, so any video plus any caption file becomes a single video with the captions baked in. A universal Stop button on every activity card means you can cancel any running operation -- batch, conversion, export -- without hunting for the right dialog. Organize gets per-folder chips and workspace-root cross-folder selection so you can sweep a whole tree in one pass. Batch operations now show a per-file done, skipped, or failed chip so you always know exactly which files made it through. The preview three-dot menu has a new Copy Content item with keep-open and add-to-JSON modes -- pile content from many files into a single JSON without leaving the preview. Edit and move actions now check OS read-only permissions before they let you start, so you don't lose work to a permission denied at the end. The text, code, JSON, and markdown editors have been rebuilt on CodeMirror 6 for snappier typing, cleaner search, and better large-file handling. Long videos play more smoothly, the video editor is steadier, DOCX header and footer rendering is much better, and a long list of small Windows and shortcut fixes round it out.

What's New in V28

Burn Subtitles into Video

Right-click a video, point to a caption file, and Diwadi bakes the subtitles directly into the picture. The output plays anywhere -- no separate sidecar file, no missing-subs surprises in players that don't load them automatically.

Right-Click SRT / VTT Hardcoded

Rebuilt Text, Code, JSON, and Markdown Editors

The four core editors have been rebuilt on CodeMirror 6 -- the same foundation used by modern IDEs. You get snappier typing, smoother large-file handling, cleaner search, and a much better experience editing JSON and markdown side by side with everything else.

Universal Stop and Per-File Status

Every activity card now has a Stop button -- one click cancels any running operation, no matter which dialog it came from. Batch operations also show per-file done, skipped, and failed chips so you can see exactly how every file in the run was handled.

Smarter Organize and Copy Content

Organize now has per-folder chips and a workspace-root mode that lets you select files across folders in one pass. The preview three-dot menu picks up a Copy Content item that can keep open between files and append into a running JSON -- great for collecting snippets from many files without breaking flow.
