V27: Multi-Page TIFF, Recover Unplayable Videos, and PDF Edit Security
Open multi-page TIFFs. Rescue broken videos. Lock PDF editing. Read text from any image. V27 is here.
Twenty-seven releases. Twenty-seven consecutive Fridays. V27 lands first-class support for multi-page TIFF files -- preview every page, convert to PDF or any raster format, edit with the page picker, and resize without losing pages. When a video file refuses to play, you now see a clean empty state with a one-click button to re-encode it into something your system actually understands. PDFs get a new edit-security flow with batch encryption and either-password unlocking, plus a show/hide toggle and Enter-to-submit on the password prompt. OCR now reads HEIC, BMP, TIFF, and GIF -- not just JPG and PNG. Newly created files open straight into edit mode and stay in edit mode across rename. Long context menus scroll instead of overflowing the screen. The Tools submenu shows a count badge. The beautifier warns you about unsaved changes before close. And a long list of small Windows, file-browser, and PDF print fixes.
What's New in V27
Multi-Page TIFF Support
TIFF files with multiple pages now work like every other multi-page format. You get a cached PNG preview of each page, a page picker for editing and mockups, full conversion to PDF and raster formats, and a resize flow that walks every page in the file.
Recover Unplayable Videos
When a video file is encoded with a codec your system can't play, you used to just see a broken player. V27 shows a clean empty state with a one-click button to re-encode the video into a playable format -- so a corrupt or exotic file becomes useful again instead of becoming a problem.
PDF Edit Security and Smarter Passwords
A new edit-security flow lets you lock down editing on a PDF, with a batch encryption preflight so you know exactly what's about to be protected. Either the user or owner password now unlocks restricted PDFs, the password prompt has a show/hide toggle, and pressing Enter submits.
OCR for HEIC, BMP, TIFF, and GIF
OCR text extraction now works on HEIC photos from iPhone, BMP screenshots, TIFF scans, and GIF images -- not just JPG and PNG. Combined with a Gray+Alpha HEIC display fallback, every image format you actually have can become searchable text.
